Live Talent’s Must Haves Preparing For An Event

23 May

Prepare

Preparing for an event can be stressful. Making sure to stay calm, cool and organized is a huge part of being successful in the industry as a live talent. If you keep calm and are prepared when trying to get together everything to bring, you will be less forgetful. Stay organized and things will just fall into place. Always make a list of what to bring in order to be prepared for the next day. If you are working an event where you got booked on Castango, always ask yourself these questions:

  • Is it outside or inside?
  • How long will you be on your feet?
  • Is your uniform clean and laid out?

There are many things to remember so don’t leave anything up to chance and be prepared to do your best.

  1. Start by calling it an early night prior to your event to go over your check-list. Your goal is to have everything prepared before you go to sleep. That way, you will wake up with a clear ToDoListhead and all you have to concentrate on is getting ready. The last thing you want is to feel anxious running around the morning of your gig. Must haves for all talent are check-lists. If you have not made a check-list it would be a good idea to create one. This will allow you to visually see what you need to do and gives you the ability to check off anything that is complete. Don’t just check the list once, make sure to go over it in the morning as well! If you are a bit forgetful, stick a sticky note to your mirror so when you get up in the morning your head is in the game!
  2. Make sure you are clear on the location of the event. If you are promotional modeling at a trade show having a large enough bag to carry what you need for the day is essential. Always include necessities like deodorant, gum, a change of clothes, comfortable shoes, etc. To stay organized, utilize zip lock bags. You can separate your toiletries from the rest of your shoes and clothes to prevent your bag from getting cluttered. If you are doing liquor promotions or any outside events you must have sunscreen! The night before, do not forget to put that on your checklist.
  3. What exactly does your employer want you to wear? Always remember to ask your employer exactly what their expectations are. If you are still unsure refer back to our blog: How to Perfect Your Promotional Model Appearance.  Always bring an extra pair of slacks or shoes in case they would like you to change. If you are going to be standing on your feet for a long period of time be conscious of what type of shoes you buy. Invest in a comfortable heel or nice dress shoes. It is important to keep these must haves in mind while preparing for your next event.
